Popular mass media and the environment?

The media reports everything on the environment the Republicans' way. The media have convinced 78% of all Americans that if you want "jobs jobs jobs" then you must destroy the environment to get the jobs. The media also reports global warming as a battle between two sides. They never report facts that buttress the global warming hypothesis. Why is this the case?
